Rhythm, energy, rebellion. Folklore meets urban club in Portuguese choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira’s explosive C A R C A Ç A.

Ten performers electrify the stage, their complex and percussive footwork (in sneakers) mixing with drums and electronic music to create a live soundtrack. Beginning with steps familiar from street dance, clubbing and hip-hop battles, the dancing intensifies, accelerating into wild, euphoric movement that connects with the legacy and memory of dances from the past. These traditional steps, frozen in time, resistant to change, are transformed in a vibrant and rebellious exploration of identity and equality.
